Caiano Hotelldrift Through the takeover of Caiano Hotelldrift AS, which runs the Rica Maritim and Rica Saga hotels in Haugesund, Caiano took a major step in the right direction. From simply being a property owner, Caiano is now responsible for operating these two hotels with approx. 180 employees and annual turnover in the region of NOK 100 million. The hotels are marketed by the Rica hotel chain as Rica Partner hotels. The collaboration with Rica also includes purchasing and personnel training. However, by running the hotels itself, the company has a much better opportunity to develop the hotels with a distinctive local colour. As early as 2005, substantial renovation work was carried out by Hotel Rica Maritim, and the renovation has been going on at full pace since. The refurbishment includes a total face-lift of the facade, total renovation of conference rooms, own verandas on all west-facing rooms, new luxury suite, new stairs between fl oors and new restaurants. In addition, the whole quay area is being renewed with a new wharf that is suitable for small boats. A large open air stage is now completed at the front of the hotel. The stage, which is being built over the sea, will be available to “everyone”, and the hope is that it will revitalise the town’s cultural scene and bring festive crowds to the quayside area.
